Awards, Critical Shortage Areas
In years when state funding is available the Arkansas Department of Education awards grants to NTLP teachers who teach in designated critical shortage areas. Grant awards are prioritized by geographic location and subject area.

1st year teacher teaching in both geographic and subject critical shortage areas |
| Priority 2 |
1st year teacher teaching in a geographic critical shortage area |
| Priority 3 |
1st year teacher teaching in a subject critical shortage area |
The Arkansas Department of Education's 2008-2009 geographic and subject critical shortage areas will be posted on TeachArkansas Critical Shortage webpage as they are announced. School year 2008-2009 grants will be awarded in March 2009, and will not exceed the cost of the NTLP fee.
