Awards, Critical Shortage Areas
The Arkansas Department of Education Non-Traditional Licensure
Program (NTLP) is a progressive and innovative program
designed to prepare qualified individuals to meet the
need for teachers in critical shortage subject and geographic
areas across the state. Recognizing that professionals'
experience, knowledge, and previous career successes
can positively impact the lives of students, NTL allows
mature career changers, with a variety of work experiences,
to teach in public school classrooms.
The NTLP is designed to provide highly qualified teachers
to fill specific teacher shortage areas, and to promote
diversity of culture and gender by expanding the pool
of minority and underrepresented teacher candidates.
