The Arkansas Department of Education Non-Traditional Licensure Program (NTLP) is a progressive and innovative program designed to prepare eligible candidates to enter the classroom as teacher-of-record while completing the process to receive an Initial or Standard Arkansas teaching license. Each NTL applicant must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and have met all testing and other requirements. Each NTL teacher attends instructional modules and is assigned a Pathwise certified mentor who provides support and focused feedback to facilitate the NTL teachers' mastery of successful teaching practices.
NTLP is a two-year preparation that includes:
- Assessments
- Teaching
- Portfolio development
|
- Instructional Modules (3-weeks in Summer and monthly Saturdays)
- Mentoring - Pathwise certified mentor is assigned by school district to each
NTL teacher to provide support and focused feedback to improve teacher quality.
|
NTLP Instructional Modules are held each year of the two-year program for three weeks during the summer (between the last week of June and the first week of August). These classes are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm daily. NTL teachers are assigned to one of nine (9) sites located across Arkansas. Site assignments are made according to the candidate’s geographic location. NTL teachers attend an additional seven (7) modules per year (one Saturday per month from September through April) to complete instructional requirements for the program. The cost of the program is $1200.00 per year. This fee covers all instruction, books and materials.
The NTLP is basically a four-step process. Click on Step 1 below to get started.
