Only NTLP participants teaching in the secondary content licensure areas of:
- Mathematics
- English
- Life/Earth Science
- Physical/Earth Science
- Social Studies
- Drama/Speech
- Foreign Languages (French, German, Spanish)
May be issued a license in two (2) of these areas. Participants may be licensed in both areas if:
- They have successfully completed all Praxis II: Content Area exams (see above) for both licensure areas, and
- Demonstrate a teaching assignment in both areas.
*NOTE: In addition to taking and passing the required Praxis I: Basic Skills and Praxis II: Content Area exams those licensing in the area of secondary Social Studies must also complete REQUIRED ADDITIONAL COURSEWORK .
*NOTE: The Praxis II: Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT) or license specific Pedagogy exam is the SECOND PART of the Praxis II series and should be taken in the NTL teachers first semester of the SECOND YEAR in the program. The PLT or license specific Pedagogy exam is the required exit exam for the program. The NTL teacher is responsible for assuring that they register for and take the appropriate exam.
