Awards, Critical Shortage Areas
Non-Traditional Licensure Program (NTLP) applications are accepted from January 15, 2008 to June 15, 2008.
1. Official college/university transcript(s) showing degree(s) conferred
2. Official transcripts (if required) showing completion of Arkansas History and Teaching
Reading courses immediately upon availability (before June 15, 2008).
3. Official ETS score reports for Praxis I and Praxis II exams (originals mailed from ETS to applicant’s home)
4. Proof of initiating the process for State and Federal Criminal Background Checks
5. NTLP Online Application and Program Fee
1. Education
To enter the NTLP an applicant must hold:
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher, from a regionally accredited institution
- A documented cumulative undergraduate or graduate grade point average (GPA) of 2.50 or higher OR, a minimum GPA of 2.75 on the last 60 credit hours of coursework completed
- The GPA requirement may be waived upon meeting certain criteria.

2. Required Additional Coursework
For those planning to license in the following areas additional coursework is required PRIOR TO admission:
- Early Childhood grades Preschool-grade 4
- Middle Childhood grades 4-8
- Social Studies grades 7-12

3. Tests Required PRIOR TO Admission:

4. Proof of Initiating Process for Required Criminal Background Checks
Candidate must submit at time of application:
- Photocopy of the completed ASP-122 form
- Photocopy of the completed fingerprint card
The original form and fingerprint card are to be mailed directly to the Arkansas State Police. The Arkansas State Police report the results directly to the Arkansas Department of Education.

5. NTLP Online Application and Program Fee
This is the FINAL step in making application to the NTL program.
Mail all above mentioned documents:
- Official college/university transcript(s) showing degree(s) conferred
- Official transcripts (if required) showing completion of Arkansas History and Teaching
Reading courses immediately upon availability (before June 15, 2008)
- Official ETS score reports for Praxis I and Praxis II exams (originals mailed from ETS to applicant’s home)
- Proof of initiating the process for State and Federal Criminal Background Checks
