Non-Traditional Licensure Program

Sequence Of Events For First And Second Year

1st Year

  • Meet all admission requirements (Mandatory)
  • Complete Online Application (Mandatory)
  • Pay Program Fee (Mandatory)
  • Attend NTL Orientation Session (Mandatory)
  • Obtain employment as teacher-of-record in one of Arkansas' public school districts or an accredited private school
  • Attend each NTL Summer Instructional Module at assigned site location (Mandatory)
  • Receive one-year NTL provisional license in the appropriate content area and level (based on assessments passed)
  • Teach in the appropriate content area and level
  • Attend monthly NTL Instructional Modules at assigned site location (Mandatory)
  • Collaboration with assigned mentor

2nd Year

  • Complete 2nd year application and pay program fee (Mandatory)
  • Obtain or continue employment as teacher-of-record in one of Arkansas' public school districts or an accredited private school.
  • NTL Summer Instructional Modules at assigned site location (same site as Year 1) (Mandatory)
  • Receive one-year NTL provisional license in the appropriate content area and level (based on assessments passed)
  • Teach in the appropriate content area and level
  • Attend Monthly NTL Instructional Modules at assigned site location (Mandatory)
  • Collaboration with assigned mentor
  • Completion of appropriate 2nd year pedagogy assessment (Mandatory)
    • Praxis II: PRINCIPLES OF LEARNING AND TEACHING
      OR
    • PRAXIS II CONTENT-SPECIFIC PEDAGOGY EXAM
  • Completion of PRAXIS III: PERFORMANCE-BASED ASSESSMENT
  • Upon successful completion of the NTLP, participants receive an Initial Arkansas Teaching License. If Praxis III is successfully completed, a Standard Arkansas Teaching License is issued.
