Awards, Critical Shortage Areas
All transcripts or evaluations should be mailed to a home address, and then mailed to NTLP with all other admission documents. DO NOT have official college/university transcripts or evaluations mailed to the NTLP office. Absolutely no photocopies or faxed copies of transcripts or evaluations are acceptable.
Official Transcript(s)
The NTLP office requires submission of official transcript(s):
- From each accredited (regionally and/or NCATE accredited) institution of higher education documenting degree(s) awarded. The official seal or stamp from the college/university registrars’ office must be present.
- Even if the transcript(s) only shows coursework that may have been transferred to the college/university where the candidate received the degree, all transcripts showing all coursework taken are required.
Out-of Country Transcript(s) and Evaluations
All out-of-country transcripts must be evaluated prior to application:
- By an ADE-approved independent in-country evaluation agency.
- Academic credentials must be documented as being equal to a Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited U.S. college or university.
- This must be a course-by-course evaluation prepared in English indicating the candidate’s cumulative grade point average (GPA).
Clicking here (PDF) will open a new window with a listing of ADE-approved private credential evaluation agencies.
GPA Requirements
If the NTLP candidate holds:
- A Bachelor’s degree and does not meet the overall 2.50 requirement, or does not have a 2.75 in the last 60 hours of coursework completed, then the candidate is not eligible to enter the program.
- A Master’s degree or Doctorate degree, then the GPA from the highest degree, if a cumulative 2.50 or 2.75 in the last 60 hours of coursework completed, will meet the requirement and will be eligible to enter the program.
If the candidate has:
- Taken additional coursework beyond the Bachelor’s degree, then the GPA will be calculated for the last 60 hours beginning with the most recent coursework completed. If the last 60 hours calculates to a 2.75 or above, then the candidate would meet the requirement.
GPA Waiver
Candidates may be exempt from the standard minimum GPA requirement if all the following conditions are met:
- Have at least fifteen (15) years of experience in the field related to the teaching/licensure subject area.
- Demonstrate a minimum of a 2.0 undergraduate or graduate grade point average.
- Submit one (1) letter of justification from the applicant expressing the relevance of the applicants’ credentials to teach the subject in question.
- Have two (2) professional letters of recommendation submitted by references to the NTL office.
- Complete the regular NTL application process.
