Arkansas Department of Education Professional Teaching Permit

The Arkansas Department of Education Professional Teaching Permit (PTP) is a one-year permit issued to an experienced professional to teach one or two classes per semester as teacher-of-record in an Arkansas public school. The permit is issued under the auspices of the Office of Educator Licensure to any active professional in the field related to the teaching/licensure subject area. This one-year permit is issued for licensure content areas in grades 9-12 only.

Any candidate who teaches three (3) years with a Professional Teaching Permit and applies to the Arkansas Professional Pathway to Educator Licensure (APPEL) would be eligible for the APPEL “one-year” track.

To apply for the Professional Teaching Permit or for more information, please contact Melissa Jacks, Educator Licensure Program Manager, at 501-683-0169.
